Wondering what ski set up he is using in these clips (ie. Boot & binding type/style, and ski dimensions).

I assume they are not using fixed heel kit which would be too heavy and restrictive, but (aside of the fact that these guys are damn good) they seem to get alot more downhill control than you would expect on a free heel binding. I was wondering if this was something for those of us who don't like heavier ski mountaineering kit and boots, but struggle to survive the downhills with a 3 pin style set up.

I'm not sure what you mean by fixed heel kit, but in short, I believe he's using...

Pierre Gignoux Race 400 boots (yours for only €1400!) with Ultimate 3 carbon fibre bindings (a hefty 62g per ski) on a pair of Salomon S-Lab Minims or some sort of similar Salomon prototype (160cm long, 69mm underfoot)

Any binding where you can lock the heel down for the downhills (as oppose to something like a 3 pin binding).
Thanks for the info, sounds pricey, but maybe there are similar options for mere mortals.

Eh? You lock the heel down on all modern ski touring equipment that isn't telemarking kit. As for weight, my Dynafit ST2 weigh something like 400g, and the only restrictions I face on my ski mountaineering trips have nothing to do with the bindings!
Yours for 200 quid on Sport Conrad.

Just look up ski mountaineering (skimo) gear, there's a range of prices, but generally lighter means more expensive.
