New Shoes

Morning all,I'm after some new shoes and would like to get a bargain if possible.  Im happy to go for a range or two back and not have to pay full price for the latest release or colours.  My usual options are Asics Gel Cumulus or Brooks Ghost/Glycerin.  My style of shoe is neutral/cushioned.

Rather than having to pay full price for the latest option, is there a good site which you guys use where decent prices can be had.  Ive done various Google searches and this doesnt seem to help as they only seem to offer random shoe sizes in either size 2.5 or 13.  Im an 8 so I guess this puts me in the most frequent size bracket.

Im happy to look at other brands although if Im buying online I would rather have something familiar to me in terms of comfort and fit.

Cheers

I've bought 4 pairs at different times from Start Fitness https://www.startfitness.co.uk for £15 - £55

They don't have all sizes for all shoes at reduced prices, but there is often a good selection.

Seconded. Most of my running shoes are bought from there

Thanks folks.  I'll check out those sites and see what they have.

In reply to TheDrunkenBakers: Sweatshop online? I would be VERY wary of buying something from a different brand unseen - in theory there are several shoes I should like, but in reality absolutely cannot use - wrong shape, fit, and midsole stiffness - Mizuno are a particular bad fit

So... have you tried Nike Pegasus?  They should similar to the above, but for me are the basic go to shoe.  Good value, work really well, no frills neutral show with moderate/good cushioning, moderately stiff midfoot.

Realistically go to a shop.

On-line shops like SportsShoes deliver the following day, you can try in the comfort of your own home without the pressure of sales staff and return if necessary (at minimal cost). With Wiggle you can return for free.

I'm all for supporting local independent shops if they have what I want to try in my size, but if as the OP says they're looking for a bargain then SportsShoes/Wiggle etc are great.

If you're in a club you might have discounts available online and actual Real Life.

Personally I wouldn’t use Seeatshop. It’s now part of Mike Ashley’s empire and he has pretty much dismantled it as a proper specialist running shop. It used to have staff who really knew what they were talking about and where heavily involved in running, often very good standard athletes, Dave Norman for example managed the Hyde store. He took over, all the experienced staff went and were replaced with children and half the stock changed to that karrimor brand knock off stuff that he sells in Sports Direct. The Manchester and Hyde stores where them closed quite quickly.

I often picked up heavily discounted end of season running shoes at Sweatshop and well as sometimes pay RRP -10% when trying something new. I try to avoid putting money in Ashley’s pockets these days.

Oh that's a shame - I don't giving Mike Ashley money.  I remember visiting the shop in Teddington 30plus years ago, and was wn same clubs as Brashers senior and junior

Still rate Pegasus though
