a new theory materialising - to cope with joint problems running in the 50s ...

I am normally attentive to energy provisioning for the longer outings I do on a weekly basis - perhaps 1h30; and when occasionally I getit wrong its normal to persevere and enjoy a bit of hypoglaecemic euphoria.

However ... my back and knees aint what they used to be, and I think I've started to note a tendency - of prolonged recovery after such runs with poor energy finish. So - the theory would be - that if energy levels are positive you can better avoid the heavy plodding phase - in which an elastic step and better posture are no longer available to protect the joints.

Can anyone confirm this ?

Get your body used to burning fat. If you do, you should feel yourself coming alive about 90 minutes in.

Get fitter?

The fitter you are the better you recover.

You can avoid the dip by necking a sachet of energy gel after about 9 miles.

No idea if it would help your joints, I suspect not.
