Whilst I’m in a part of the world where there might be some shops with a decent selection of trail shoes I thought I’d take the opportunity to try a load on and find something that works for me. 

In the lakes for a day or so but not sure where to go- Keswick? Ambleside? 

Specifially after off road/ fell shoes for running.

Kong in Keswick have a good range esp inov8 and Salomon. Then also in Keswick you have Needlesports, Cotswold and Fishers which all stock trail shoes. So personally I'd say Keswick. 

Kong in Keswick has best selection I have seen, you also have George Fisher in Keswick.

While not technically in the lakes, if you're arriving from the south I'd highly recommend stopping off in Kendal at Pete Bland's.
