Um, you reckon there's not many quarries in South Wales? Try running up and down between the two Gap quarries. Run up and down between the pub and the top of Morlais. Run between Llangattock village and the quarries (or simply run along the top of the escarpment then run back along the bottom.

I think if I tried that with my misses it be a good running workout because I'd have to get out of the house pretty quickly before she killed me

I really can't see the point in the practice, especially when it's much easier and practical to use your thumb.

Methyr Mawr sand dunes, it's good enough for amateurs and professional alike. Plus less likely to damage you!

Plus, if you find that a bit too easy, you could always run along to Porthcawl and back, only go out into to the sea until you're up to your nadds, then start running.

In reply to El-Mariachi: Used to do all my running in a disused open cast (which was at one point the biggest in Europe) and it had some grueling up hills but it was a nice place to run.
