The future of climbing in West Victoria ....

.... isn't looking very good. PV (Parks Victoria) has published a draft plan for climbing in The Grampians/Gariwerd and while one arm of that organisation is planning to ban climbing and bouldering for the majority of the area another arm is building a long distance track with handrails, campsites and luxury overnight pods with toilets that will need to be emptied by helicopter. Arapiles could be next on the hit list. A petition was set up in 2019, and this follow-up has some useful links and for anyone interested there is a full account of the submission to Parks by Grampians Access Working Group. There are 5 days left for anyone wanting to reply to the Parks draft plan.
