Hi all,

I've recently moved to Hexham, now other than Dipton mill does anyone know if there are any lesser know crags/boulders in the local vicinity?

Any insight appreciated!

Thanks!

I'm impressed with having scoped out Dipton! I used to go to vindolanda quarry with a bloke from Hexham back in the day.

Other than that, the southern part of the county is reasonably quick access

You've got the dolerite crags on Hadrian's Wall (Peel and Crag Lough) and also sandstone bouldering/soloing at Queen's Crag.  They all face north but should be still OK.

There are probably over 20 crags within 30 miles of Hexham.

Best to get hold of a copy of the Northumberland Climbing and Northumberland Bouldering guides

2 minutes on the 'find crags' map search function on this site should show you where pretty much every obscure crag in your area is.  It definitely does in my part of the world (not Hexham, so can't help you, sorry!).
