I missed this a few days ago, only heard about it on EpicTV today: Connor Herson has climbed Empath on trad gear. I think the grade has settled at 9a, making it one of the hardest trad climbs in the world. Though maybe it doesn't count if the bolts are still there?

That photo makes it look like he's placing gear on lead as well.

Designer trad. No commitment.

There was a bit of a craze for 'greenpointing' a few years ago (climbing a sport route on trad gear but without chopping the bolts). Mainly just for a fun challenge I think, though with the bolts still in place it would surely remain officially a sport route.

Climbing 9a takes a pretty significant amount of commitment. Bolts or no bolts.

In reply to deacondeacon:

Yes of course, not that I have any idea how hard it is to climb 9a on bolts. I think you replied to the wrong person?
