Has anyone done the 4km girdle on Ben Nevis?

I'm thinking I might head up there and have a go next summer. The SMC guidebook gives it Severe overall but is a bit vague about how much is climbing, how much is scrambling and how much is walking along ledges.

I suppose the real question is: Is it feasible for a punter in a day or will I be wanting to look for a 2 day weather window and take bivvy gear?

Surely just walk down one of the gullies or up tower ridge, go home and come back and carry on the next day?

I know it is escapable but I'm only really interested in doing it in one push.

There is a video of a couple of guys doing it kicking around, not sure if this link will work

if not just search 'Ben Nevis Girdle Traverse' on vimeo

I reckon it's a day project, wouldn't want to be carrying too much, unless you really want to bivi.

Really cool, but I don't think I'm quite up to it in winter

Thanks for the video. It doesn't look all that bad.

Doing it in one day would be my preference. I'm happy to spend a night out if necessary to do a route but if I can avoid it I will.
