What are the venues routes and boulders in North Wales that are best suited to the winter, I.e. don’t deep, sheltered, ideally catch the sun etc. 
I know the area pretty well so I’m after less well known venues I’ve not been to. Routes up to the 7c and boulders up to 7A and any trad venues that for the bill. 

Tremadog and slate are good winter options. Some of the south facing moelwyn crags too (I was climbing in a t shirt all day last week).

I'm not much of a boulder or sport climber but Rhiw Goch boulders are good in winter (south facing, steep). Porth ysgo is good too, just check the tides.

Careg Hylldrem traverse is the classic but I guess that might come under ‘well known’.

Great Orme, try for some sport and bail to the cave if it rains.

I whole heartedly recommend Croesor to Rhosydd Through Trip ("CRTT"). In the past there has been an element on the forums "too dangerous" "irresponsible". But if I suggested a mountain scramble route which is arguably more dangerous nobody says anything. We're grown ups.

Yes there are some sections of CRTT where extra care is needed (minimising time and moving gently in the first big cavern). Pulling up inspecting fixed abseil ropes before use, checking anchors, safeguarding abseils in some manner (like prussic third hand, grigri, stop, shunt, fireman belay etc etc). But this is basic basic stuff.

If the OP of this thread has a strong sense of adventure, can jumar up sections of rope if needed (and takes means to do so!), takes a spare/emergency rope of their own 50m @9mm should do it), has a helmet and head torch with 5 hours battery (and spare batteries for another 5 + emergency torch), has some lanyards/cows tail tied to harness then in my opinion anyway the route is an excellent mini taster/introduction to a whole world of big-cohones adventure.

If people are sensible and can look after themselves on a mountainside, can ascend rope then why the heck not do CRTT??

Go for it OP, you will have a great adventure. Go and paddle a canoe underground and all the rest of the "fun". No you don't need to take lots of specialist pulleys, if you read any of that in instructions it's out of date

There is a reasonable amount of movement in the mines so you really do need to be careful and understand the risk properly.

Looking at pics in his gallery, he's playing with the big boys, not someone at the: only ever bouldered indoors stage of experience. He can make adult judgements I'm sure.

No saying he shouldn't do it, just that there is an objective hazard to be aware of that you don't get outside.

No downvoted from me either. IIRC last time you recommended it to someone who was asking for toproping for kids recommendations...
