Our gym has been using Vertical Life for a while and I thought I'd give it a go, only the free version, I'm too tight to pay for such frivolities.

Anyhow, you get to log you routes and the style you do them in, so my question, can you only On Sight a route the first time?

Would every other ascent of the same route be classed as a Red Point?

I know it doesn't really matter in the scheme of things, but interested what others think.

My mate reckons you can have the Osight every time you climb it, I reckon one onsight everything else is Redpoint.

From the App

Onsight -A successful ascent at the first attempt, with no prior practice or additional information/hints (beta) by other climbers.

Redpoint - A successful ascent after one or more previous unsuccessful attempts. Completed without falling or resting on the rope.

I log Onsight if I'm successful on first attempt and Redpoint on the rare occasion that I:

a) repeat a route

and

b) bother to log it

If it's a joke you've lost me, if not, no it isn't.

Dory is the fish with short term memory loss in the film Finding Nemo.

Onsighting is most definitely reserved for your very first attempt at a route.

Onsighting a route twice is defo not a 'thing' (and I have a particularly bad memory!!

Yeah Onsighting a route more than once is most definitely not a thing.

I mean I have a terrible memory and can't recall routes I've climbed previously, even if it was just a few days prior, but I'd never log more than one onsight!

They need to take a tip from UKC and add a 'repeat' option.

I think that's where the confusion came from, their repeat is the redpoint option.
