Planning our first family trip to the Roaches and looking for route and area recommendations.

Roaches Skyline was recommended in general but no specific routes.

Requirements:

  • Easy access and safe area to park an adult with a toddler on a picnic rug away from climbers.
  • Single pitch routes where I can walk up/scramble to the top and set up an anchor and then top or bottom rope the older kids.
  • Up to VDiff/S
  • up to 10m

Any other tips and recommendations would be much appreciated.

Many thanks in advance

I'd say the southern end of Ramshaw might suit you better than Skyline, easier walk-in and you have the bonus that the back slabs give a guarenteed 'no queue' situation for fun topropes and bouldering that is great for kids (all being unlisted). Roaches lower grade route stuff is nearly always too busy.
