I was at Stoney Middleton today and noticed some huge paint marks on the crag, blue and orange and up to six foot long.

There were also some new drilled anchors and signs of over vigorous cleaning and chipping.

And worse of all, someone had left topropes and abseil ropes over the bit I wanted to climb.

Why can't people just behave and respect the rock like they did in some mythical golden age when I was a lad.

Photo attached, do look at it before replying.

What’s happening there Dan? Stoney caf was a superb place to meet and mingle with the high and mighty in the 70’s, so many fond memories.

I always thought that groove would make a rather fine climb,

Stabilisation work of some sort. Looks pretty extensive from walking past it a few times.

I presume it's a platform for topropers who don't want to stand on the roof.

Either that or they are fed up of rocks coming through the roof and are putting that metal netting up.

The whole crag would probably benefit from this sort of work 😅

The guy who lives in the flat above the curry house is a climber. Wonder if we can get away with climbing it while there's a platform under it!
