I was attempting to lead the upper (roof) pitch of Pierrepoint at Gordale late yesterday when a large block I was standing on detached without warning and fell 30m to the floor, narrowly missing the belayer. Luckily there were few tourists about at that time. There is still some hanging block remaining and I’m not sure if this is more firmly attached or a risk if weighted. The experienced Al Wilson said he’d head up on Friday and have a look, but meanwhile please be aware that more rock could fall if you venture beyond the Dogpoint belay at the roof.
