Hi all,

I managed to bork my wrist up about 2 years ago while pulling too hard on some plastic.

Haven't been able to do any exercise since without a lot of pain and fatigue in the wrist/forearm area.

I've seen 3 physios, multiple specialists and I've had 2 MRI's + a nerve conductivity study done - but the current diagnosis seems to be "mystery nerve damage".  The Brachial Plexus nerves look good according to the specialist, and the conductivity study only showed a slight issue somewhere around the shoulder.

Yesterday, the specialist said I might just have to live with it.  Which is a major kick in the nether regions!

If anyone has experienced a similar situation - I'd be super keen to hear how they dealt with it. In particular, if anyone knows any specialists/physios who might be worth a shot to visit - I'd appreciate the advice!  At this point I'm willing to try just about anything (happy to be used as a pin cushion for acupuncture if anyone has a good recommendation)

Cheers!

Mystery nerve damage is pretty clear it is nerve damage. So an op isn't going to fix anything. Nerves take time to heal themselves.

I had brachial neuropathy. Lots of important muscles became useless. 4 to 5 years to climb properly again. Pull down strength still down 20% but climbing harder than ever now, nearly.

So, take it easy, be nice to yourself. Nerves don't like stress. Think step changes rather than gradual improvement.

Super specialists at Leeds Hand unit. They transplanted a hand there.

You don't mention where you are based.

I had an elbow/forearm/wrist problem from climbing which was a mix of tendon and nerve  issues, it took a long time to resolve. I eventually got it sorted by a physio called Rory Holliday who has practises at Leeds and Mansfield, he used to do sessions at the Depot at Leeds so he understands climbers and climbing related issues.

.. and you don't say what sort of a specialist you have seen. Should be a neurologist. My understanding is you can't see cellular level damage to internal part of nerves with mri. I had mri but only to rule out cancer. Pronounced muscle weakness one of main signs of nerve damage.

Physios come in two flavours, neuro and msk. Doubt you will find a private neuro physio.
