Hey all,

I'm going to the USA tomorrow! I've basically got a choice between taking a 70m 9.5mm rope or 2x50m 8.6s.

I cannot work out which ones to take. The doubles worked great at the gunks last time I went but with Yosemite being so many crack lines are they going be pointless there?

All the Americans seem to favour singles but are they wrong on this one?

We used a pair of 9mm halves back in the 90's.  Our American hosts were bewildered by what we were doing so we gave them a few lessons.  They were convinced and to this day still use halves on almost every route, apart from straight, soring, 200 metre cracks.

Agreed , take the halves.

Also pretty handing for abbing in Yosemite.

Enjoy the Gunks... a great place.
