Hi.. Could anyone recommend a place to stay in or near Chamonix? We're both pretty wall traveled Rock Climbers but not much Alpine experience, so we're looking at Cragging and obviously want to get on some of the bigger stuff that Cham has to offer! We are driving out there with friends who are experienced in Alpine and we'll probably have a guide for 2!3days but just thought I'd ask on here as well! Really great full for any replys and/or advice..

Cheers 😉

Lots of campsites around. The one just up the road in Argentiere is usually a little quieter and cheaper than some of the Chamonix campsites

I’d similarly recommend the inexpensive campsite at the Les Choslets roundabout, just before Argentiere, however be aware it closes for the season end Sept. Reopens early May.

If you’re thinking of heading there imminently, be aware most lifts stop running and mountains refuges close mid-to-late Sept. The weather typically starts to deteriorate too. One advantage is popular rock routes are markedly quieter.
