Went to brownstones today. The pond which had become a lake is now back to it's former size, for the first time in years the routes at the bottom end are all climbable. Enjoy

I’ve only been to Brownstones twice. The first time in high summer, there were so many horseflies we didn’t even do a single problem.

The second time in deep midwinter, even the dry routes were so polished it was just nasty.

Have to agree with those who find this an over-rated crag!

great local crag, but the pond and tractor tires detract somewhat

It’s feeling a bit neglected

Anyone remember when Ash Pit Traverse was the Climber (and Rambler?) Climb of Quality? Late 60s/early70s. Climbed in big boots - classic.

Would agree there. There are some quality problems but the intense polish and heathery topouts means it has lost a great amount of potential.

Yes I do. I think it might have been written/photographed by Steve Ashton?

Didn’t Digitation get a splash in something once upon a time? I seem to remember knowing it was ‘a thing’ before visiting.
