Cheers Jon. Made me a smile whilst having my morning cuppa, a lovely start to the day.

A great story and completely in character for Maurice.  Despite being 70 he can still reach further than me and has nerves of steel!

And, having made a nostalgic ascent of Suspension Bridge Arete at my old stamping ground with my son recently, I can endorse the sentiment that it doesn't get any better.

Glad it wasn't just me who was delighted to see Neil's comments! A perfect example of what's brilliant about the climbing community! My mum is digging out some old negatives of their day out with Neil, I hope to be able to share these soon! Climbing with a 70yr old brings its own unique challenges (diminishing hearing/eyesight, a wandering attention span and insistence of errors in guidebook descriptions) but its so much fun!

I've another photo of the crux pitch in the soaking wet conditions on Corvus of my mum and me separated by about 40yrs, same spot, gear placements and position which I'll post dig out and post at some point!

What a fab story.

I hope I'm still enjoying wild places at that age.

Wonderful.

Nice story and amusing to see even Neil used to be inexperienced...

Just back home and checked my (very) old climbing diary.

It was 27/10/79 when I did DOWH with Maurice and Sarah - so just over 40 years ago!

I'd been climbing less than a year, and my diary confirms it was my first ever sea cliff route.

Where did all those years go.....?

Neil

Longer than a year surely? 😊
