I have a background in hillwalking and general mountaineering since I was a kid, in my late teens and early twenties my attention was focused on being an athlete and I competed for the GB Under 23 team over 1500m as well as earning a sports scholarship to the states. Now I am trying to get back into mountaineering more seriously. I have done some grade 1 and 2 winter climbs as well as completing scrambles up to grade 3, all solo.
I am not motivated by scaling a very difficult rock face near the side of a road, but climbing longer routes requiring both technical input, navigation and physical endurance.
Myself and a friend are both at the same level and intend to go on a winter course to be taught the basics of rope work to safeguard stuff as we move onto harder climbing/scrambling.
In the last few years I have moved to Kent and backed off the mountaineering due to location/family reasons and started running competetively. Now have run a few marathons including a 2:27 and also a 69 min half/31 min 10k. Would maybe like to do the Dragons Back one day!
