There's a new kid on the block! To compliment the BMC's wide range of climbing festivals (Trem Fest, Gower Fest, Wilton Fest etc) Spenser Gray has organised the South Peak Limestone Festival to encourage BMC members to explore the wide array of climbing and walking offered in the area. There are a wide array of sport and trad routes available for the climbers to enjoy across the grades, some bouldering and even a few aid routes if you are that way inclined!

The festival starts on Friday 14th September with people meeting at the Royal Oak Pub/ Campsite in Wetton and will have the following agenda:

Friday Evening: Arrive

Saturday Morning: Head off to go climbing/ walking independently at whatever time suits you, route cards for a suggested walk around the area to the North East of Wetton will be provided on request.

Saturday 6PM: A buffet will be served (if you wish to partake please contact the Royal Oak directly, cost £10)

Saturday 7PM: Gary Gibson will be giving a talk about his new routing activities in the area.

Sunday 10AM: Peter Judd will be leading a walk taking in Wetton Hill, The Sugarloaf and Milldale, this walk will be leaving at 10AM. Alternatively head off at whatever time you want if climbing/ walking independently.

Sunday Afternoon/ Evening: Close of Festival

Climbing Guidebook: The definitive guidebook for the area is Peak Limestone South, available from the  BMC online shop.

Map: The map for the area is also available from the BMC online shop.

The festival will be based at the Royal Oak in Wetton, if you would like to stay at the campsite this will cost £10 per night (inclusive of a pint of beer/ cider/ glass of wine) and can be booked directly via the Royal Oak on 01335310287.

In reply to Team BMC:

if anyone goes to Beeston at the weekend for this, perhaps they can kindly take a small pair of snips to cut the Rose push back on Beeston eliminate. It has grown back and makes climbing it extremely painful......

In reply to Stoney Boy:

I'm sure I have a pair of secateurs somewhere, pretty keen to head to Beeston Tor for at least one of the days as I've never climbed there.
