At Redpoint Bristol we’re excited to continue expanding our team to meet the growing demand for instructed sessions and the number of independent climbers using the centre. As a growing business, it’s the perfect time to become part of our community.
As part of this expansion we are able to offer the ongoing opportunity for new instructors to join our experienced and friendly team.
We are passionate about supporting our staff to develop their skills and qualifications and providing opportunities for progression within the company. With this in mind, we pay for all staff training and encourage staff to continue their professional development by getting involved in other aspects of the business where appropriate - such as more advanced coaching, route setting, equipment checks, bookings etc.
We are particularly pleased to have created a pathway into employment with us for experienced climbers who are keen to become instructors, but aren’t yet qualified, through our new Instructor Assistant roles.
Further down the line, there is also the potential to progress into a full time Duty Manager position. We strive to reflect our commitment to staff progression by recruiting Duty Managers from within our existing team of instructors.
In addition to taking on new Instructor Assistants and All-Rounders (qualified instructors), we also have availability for qualified freelance instructors to join our team.

All-Rounders
If you are a qualified climbing instructor and feel you would fit in well with our team, we would love to hear from you!
As one of the largest walls in the South West you will be responsible for running sessions with a wide range of customers of differing ages and abilities. As well as delivering high quality instructing and coaching you will also be trained to work as part of our reception team.
Pay
CWA Assessed: £8.40 p/h
CWLA Assessed: £8.90 p/h
Hours
Weekends: working on a 2 on, 1 off pattern
Weekdays: 2-3 days/evenings
Hours
Minimum 60 hours per month contract up to full time hours, with the ability to pick up extra shifts.
Essential Qualities
CWA/CWI or SPA/RCI qualified
Experienced instructor who is an active climber themselves
Desirable Qualities
Previous experience in a customer-facing role
Previous experience working at a climbing wall
Knowledge of National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme (NICAS)
Knowledge of Rock Gym Pro software

Instructor Assistants
Instructor Assistants help with the delivery of parties in our popular Crazy Climb facility. This role is perfect for energetic instructors looking for part-time work or aspiring instructors looking for an entry point into a career in the climbing industry.
We support our Instructor Assistants to gain experience and develop their instructing skills. We pay for training/qualifications, with a view to progressing Instructor Assistants into becoming fully qualified instructors, moving into an All-Rounder role at our centre.
Starting Pay
£7.70 p/h
Essential Skills
Experienced and active climber
Able to work weekends, school holidays and some evenings
Desirable Qualities
Previous experience in customer-facing role
CWA Training/Assessed (we can provide training for the right candidates)

Freelance Instructors
If you are a qualified instructor looking for the flexibility of self employed work, we are welcoming new freelancers to join our pool of instructors available to cover sessions not staffed by our employed instructors.
Although hours are not guaranteed for freelancers, at busy times it is very possible to pick up full days of work.
We often see freelancers progressing through to fully employed All-Rounders after becoming familiar with our centre and team.
