 Ellis Brigham 14 May 2020

Rebecca Coles is an Ellis Brigham ambassador, expedition leader and Mountain Instructor (the 40th woman to gain the Mountaineering Instructor Certificate), with a PhD in Glacial Geomorphology.

She travels the world mountaineering and has achieved numerous first ascents in very challenging environments – most notably Lasarmu La, a 6200m peak in the far west of Nepal, four first ascents in South Georgia, Antarctica, and two major first ascents in Wakhan Corridor, Afghanistan.

It is little wonder she has been named as one of the 50 most ground-breaking and influential female climbers the UK has ever produced.

In 2019 Rebecca Coles, Lou Beetlestone and Mo Barclay. set out to climb the Alps' 4000m peaks, this was Project Alpine Spirit. Despite being over 150 years since the first woman, Lucy Walker, climbed the Matterhorn, no all-women's team has climbed all of the 4000m peaks in the Alps.

Join us online on Friday 15th May at 8pm to hear Rebecca talk about her experiences climbing these alpine summits and highlights the stories of historical female alpinists.

The talks will be held on Zoom and a link will be emailed to you in your Eventbrite signup confirmation. There are limited spaces available, but we will also being streaming the talks live on our Facebook page at the same time.
