The stunning prize for our #nutsoflegends draw on 30th September.
Our good friends at the Heaton Cooper Studio in Grasmere have created this amazing framed piece of climbing history that money just can’t buy. The image is of the iconic Scafell Crag as painted by FRCC member W Heaton-Cooper and included in their Rock Climbing Guides to The English Lake District: Scafell Group edition in 1936.
Below are the original signatures of Lakelands finest climbing living legends including Sir Chris Bonington, Doug Scott CBE, Dave Birkett, Emma Twyford, James McHaffie, Leo Houlding, Joe Brown CBE and W Heaton-Coopers nephew; climber and artist Julian Cooper.
We would like to say a massive thank you to all of our legends for taking the time to add their signatures – especially Dave Birkett who we managed to bump into while placing a nut at his E8 horror-fest; Bleed In Hell on the Bowderstone Crag!
The final few 60th Anniversary Torque nuts will be placed before the 29th September so keep your eyes peeled on our social media to join in the hunt! Confirmed finds are marked in green on the routes list on the UK Climbing Comp page so there are still plenty more to be found. Folks have sent in some fantastic and, er unique images (the inevitable interpretation of Nuts Of Legends appeared on our Twitter feed last week) along with stories of how nuts are being displayed and used as our summer of trad winds down into autumn.
