Overview.

Summit Up Climbing Centre which opened in Oldham in September 2021 is one of the most exciting facilities of its kind!

Featuring the largest Clip 'n Climb in the north of England, bouldering, roped climbing, ValoClimb, soft play and cafe we aim to provide a fantastic experience for people of all ages and abilities.

We are looking for motivated and experienced individuals to join our team as Duty Manager and Climbing Instructors to help with the day to day running of the Centre.

The successful candidates will be answerable to the general manager and operations manager and have the following responsibilities:

Duty Manager

Responsibilities of the Role.

  • Manage the day to day running of the Centre and support the general and operations managers as required.
  • Be responsible for the Centre, staff and customers whilst on duty.
  • Ensure the highest levels of customer service and safety are maintained at all times and that Summit Up is well represented.
  • Take on additional responsibility dependent on experience such as staff training or route setting.
  • Manage staff members effectively.
  • Instruct to a high standard as required.
  • Be professional, approachable and friendly at all times.
  • Have sole responsibility of the Centre at times and be confident in resolving any issues.
  • Be flexible and available to work evenings and weekends as required.

Essential Skills.

  • Experience of working in the climbing wall industry.
  • Hold relevant climbing instructor qualifications.
  • Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills.
  • Be a confident team leader with a proven track record.
  • Ability to use own initiative and solve problems.
  • Enjoy working as part of a team whilst being an enthusiastic self starter.
  • Passionate about climbing and awareness of industry trends.
  • Have an excellent level of instructing experience, across a broad range of ages and abilities.
  • Have excellent customer service skills.

Desirable Skills.

  • Experience of route setting.
  • Experience of performing PPE inspections.
  • Experience of delivering NICAS sessions.
  • Experience of training staff.
  • Experience of using an EPoS system.
  • Knowledge of Clip 'N Climb operations.

Hours and Location.

The position will be full time (37.5 hours per week) and include some daytime, evening, weekend and Bank Holiday work. It will be based at Summit Up Climbing Centre, Oldham.

Climbing Instructors/ Receptionists.

Responsibilities of the Role.

  • To instruct a variety of sessions from school groups and coaching to NICAS and taster sessions.
  • To work reception as required including cash handling and performing competency tests.
  • Ensure the highest levels of customer service and safety are maintained at all times and that Summit Up is well represented.
  • Take on additional responsibility dependent on experience.
  • Instruct to a high standard as required.
  • Be professional, approachable and friendly at all times.
  • Be flexible and available to work evenings and weekends as required.

Essential Skills.

  • Experience of working in the climbing wall industry.
  • Hold relevant climbing instructor qualifications. Whilst CWI or RCI is a minimum we would consider those with ICA looking to progress in the industry.
  • Excellent verbal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to use own initiative and solve problems.
  • Enjoy working as part of a team whilst being an enthusiastic self-starter.
  • Passionate about climbing and awareness of industry trends.
  • Have a solid level of instructing experience, ideally across a broad range of ages and abilities.
  • Have excellent customer service skills.

Desirable Skills.

  • Experience of performing PPE inspections.
  • Experience of delivering NICAS sessions.
  • Experience of using an EPoS system.
  • Knowledge of Clip 'N Climb operations.
  • Hold a coaching or CWDI qualification.

Hours and Location.

There are a number of casual contracts available with regular hours for the right candidates. All may require some evening, weekend and Bank Holiday work. It will be based at Summit Up Climbing Centre, Oldham.
