Role; Duty Manager
For; Freedog Bristol Ltd (Trading as Freedog and Flashpoint)
Hours; 90hrs per month guaranteed
Rate of pay; NMW raising to £10.50ph after a training period
Start date; Training to commence early May 2021.

JOB SUMMARY
The Duty Manager will take the lead on the day-to-day operations of the centre ensuring the safety and security of the facility, staff and customers. The Duty Manager will support the Senior Management in all day-to-day procedures including but not limited to; building security, cashing up, staff deployment and break allocation, centre cleanliness and staff administration. The fundamental aim is to maintain a safe operation and functional activity centre with a key eye on staff welfare.

The Duty Manager will be expected to take part in all crew member responsibilities and have basic knowledge within the café to aid with daily operations and to implement an exemplary standard to those they line manage on-shift.

The Duty Manager must be able to accommodate and be open-minded to the ever-changing business dynamic and at times contend with a fast-paced working environment. They must have a strong idea of problem-solving and deliver excellent customer service in line with company policies. The Management expects and demands a consistent quality of work performance and professionalism from the Duty Manager at all times.

The Duty Manager must be able to communicate and motivate on-shift staff to meet their full potential within the centre. They must have a can-do attitude and be a team player to promote a positive working environment.

The Duty Manager must be flexible to their working pattern and at times may be called to provide last-minute Duty Management coverage within the centre. The Duty Manager will have the allowance to pick up open reception and crew shifts alongside allocated shifts.

The responsibilities of a Duty Manager may change depending on business requirements. This will be communicated via their direct line manager.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS

  • Monitoring and maintaining the activity areas. Providing exemplary standard to others
  • Ensuring equipment checks are carried out daily and maintenance is up to date and reported to the management team
  • Comply with all relevant regulations of the centre
  • Managing the day-to-day operations of the centre, including but not limited to; staff deployment, staff breaks, conflict management, crew assistance, cashing up, building security, centre cleanliness etc
  • Manage, motivate and support the crew on a daily basis
  • Flashpoint day-to-day facility managing; walkarounds, customer interaction, participant safety
  • Promote procedures to staff to provide a consistent attitude to safety, and customer service
  • Deliver basic discipline/appraisals and relay any relevant information to the Senior Management
  • Crew and café staff responsibilities
  • On-shift conflict management in line with company procedures
  • Regular meetings with their Line Management to discuss targets and implementation of procedural updates

DESIRED CANDIDATE

  • Must be available to work a variety of shifts; 06:30 starts, weekdays, evenings and weekends on a rotational basis
  • Have experience working in the leisure industry
  • A keen interest in climbing is preferred, but not essential
