We are looking to recruit Crew Members / Instructors and Route Setters to join our team, based across both our sites in Milton Keynes.


Crew Members / Instructors

As a front of house Crew Member your role would be to welcome customers into the centre. You will have a friendly approachable manner, and be keen to assist with all aspects of a busy climbing centre environment. The focus will be on providing excellent customer care and service with attention to detail. An excellent communicator with quiet competence and a passion for climbing culture will create an environment that is comfortable, sociable, and fun.

There will also be the opportunity to instruct across our range of sessions and courses, from introducing new customers to climbing, to developing experienced climbers alike. You should be able to deliver consistently high standards of instructing with a pragmatic and adaptable approach.

The position available could be full-time or part-time and you will be required to work daytime, evening, and weekend shifts.

Duties include:

  • Working in reception/shop and café greeting customers and answering their questions
  • Taking phone calls, answering correspondence, making bookings, and taking payments
  • Delivering climbing sessions to an array of groups of all ages and abilities.

The right candidate will have:

  • Instructing qualifications - CWI or RCI as a minimum
  • Weekend and evening availability
  • An energetic and motivated approach and a genuine passion for customer service in the climbing industry

Desirable skills:

  • Experience of working with EPOS and booking systems
  • First Aid at work certification
  • An understanding of working in a café

Although previous experience and qualifications would be advantageous, we are prepared to consider anyone who feels they may fit this role and believe in finding the right person even if they don’t exactly fit the description above.


Route Setters

With over 350 routes and boulder problems spread between our 2 sites, we are looking to recruit Route Setters passionate about setting interesting and enticing climbs for all climbers and abilities on a regular basis.

The position is part-time, but can be combined with a Crew Member / Instructor role on a part- or full-time basis. You will need to be flexible regarding working hours, although typically you will be working weekday daytimes in the route setter role.

Duties include:

  • Setting routes and boulder problems, including for youth climbers
  • Forerunning of routes and boulder problems (both your own and those of other setters)
  • Hold management including jet washing and organisation
  • Ensuring route logs are accurate and up to date        

The right candidate will be:

  • a passionate climber, including lead climbing and bouldering, with extensive experience of both indoor and outdoor climbing
  • creative and self-motivated with an individual eye for detail
  • Equally adept at working alone or as part of a team       

Desirable skills:

  • At least one year of experience setting in a commercial climbing wall       
  •  able to set engaging routes and problems at all grades
  • Experienced lead climber
