Alpkit UK Factory Machinist 

We’re looking for an experienced sewing machinist to join our team to help us out with production. Someone self-motivated who takes pride in producing high-quality outdoor products. You will be taking products from the very start of production to the very end with a group of like-minded outdoors enthusiasts. Candidates must have excellent communication skills, good timekeeping, and a keen eye for detail and quality. 

Alpkit is a small team with excellent customer service. The bread and butter of the business is the high-quality products and you will be an important part of what we do. We have a relaxed working environment where tea and coffee is to hand, decent music plays, but when there’s stuff to do we knuckle down and get the job done.

The factory sewing machinist role involves handling raw materials, using heavy duty lock stitch machines, binders and bartackers.

Sewing Experience is essential for this role.

37.5 hours per week – Monday to Friday.

Alpkit UK Factory Manager. 

The Alpkit microfactory has been manufacturing custom made bike luggage, boulder mats and rucksacks for last 8 years and is an important part of our operations. We need a Manager who can inspire, lead and grow a small but amazing team. Coming from a textile or sewn goods background would be at an advantage, but strong management skills particularly in manufacturing and the ability to look at the commercial opportunity is equally important. Alpkit is passionate about how it's UK manufacturing can support our online and retail operations. The opportunity to develop products quickly and have them on sale days later, coupled with a tremendous interest in custom made products and our alteration and repair service instore, is a huge asset to the Alpkit customer focused ethos. 

In the role as Factory Manager you will be working with the Managing Director to ensure we are able to balance running an efficient and reactive production facility with lean inventory whilst making sure we craft amazing outdoor gear for our fantastic customers. Commercialising new products and driving new processes to do this. Confident computer literacy (Excel). Highly organised, attention to detail on the ball and driven by processes. Alpkit prides itself on the quality of it’s management team this role will require good communication and team work in order to maximise the opportunities for the microfactory. Work with buying dept to plan production minimising waste and maximising productivity. Making sure that products are produced on time and are of good quality. Ensure a safe and pleasant working environment. Controlling stocks of both raw materials and finished goods. Provide leadership and development for the factory team. Implement best practices and drive continuous improvement.

The Candidate Ideally 4yrs+ experience working in a similar environment: manufacturing, production, factory background. A good knowledge of fabrics, patterns and construction processes . Confident computer literate (Excel). Highly organised, attention to detail on the ball and driven by processes. Good knowledge in scheduling, planning and prioritising work flow and meeting deadlines.
