 The Lemming 17 Dec 2020

Been a funny old year, and not much opportunity to take images, however care to share your favorite image taken in 2020?

The rules are quite simple, the image can be of any subject as long as it was captured this year.

First place is one week's holiday in Blackpool.

Second place is two week's  holiday in Blackpool.

Where do we post them?

I haven’t been to Blackpool in years. I’m beside myself with excitement.

One of my favourites "Light at the end of the Corona virus tunnel"...aka a composite of a bog roll tube and Ashway Gap tunnel!

If I win I donate my prize to second place...

What if you don't make the rostrum.  I think the possibility of life imprisonment in Blackpool may be putting folk off.

True.

Third place is a week in Fleetwood.

{I'm embarrassed to say} I've never been to Blackpool, and my alter ego is beside itself with excitement.

You've never been to the Las Vegas of the North?

It truly is a place of beauty, wealth and squalor.

What interesting definitions of beauty and wealth you must have in your part of the world.

Last good pre-lockdown snow. That trip feels so distant now and the fact the bothy was open to public feels weird.

I also had few nice nights in the Tulloch hostel, chatted with few nice folk and remember listening to a podcast about some virus in China...

Not my most dramatic, or best composed, photo of the year, but this is special for what it represents. Over the first lockdown, when the new weird world was a strange place, everyday I walked from home exploring my local natural world. It was such a joy to be away from the flat, where I have been working and living for so long now, and I learnt so much about my local flora and fauna.

On the edge of a golf course, that had kindly allowed folk to wander across the fairways if they were respectful of the greens, I once spotted a kestrel in a tree. Over a number of weeks, I visited regularly, and the two kestrels didn't seem to mind, if I stood quietly. One day, not long before the course re-opened, the lady of the woods just sat in this tree as I slowly approached, and we had a nice chat. Perhaps 30 feet away.

This connection with nature, and 100s of other creatures, is what has kept me going this year. Tonight I was chatting to a bunch of deer. They too, didn't seem to mind.

Pleased with this one.  Been meaning to play with that filter for ages.  I also want to use it to get a shot of the polishing stone, on the Ridgeway near Avebury, but logistics, lockdowns and other stuff keeps getting in the way.  One for next year.

Favourite image taken by ourselves or someone else? If it's by someone else then probably one of Robert Durran's, he's posted some belter this year.

edit - ok the bug has not been fixed yet, sadly. This was me trying to upload a picture from an iPhone gallery, via Safari on iPhone. I think I've had this issue before.

Can I add another category to the End of Year competition?

If so, then you can submit one video that you've created and published somewhere on the internet that we can all enjoy and marvel at.

Pornhub is obviously not one of those outlets for viewing 😂

Thanks   I've had my highest ever ranked both climbing and landscape shots on UKC this year - glad you've enjoyed them.
