I had this camera for just over a year. I got it since it provides decent IQ for amateur use and it was meant to be somewhat waterproof - less to worry about... It was small enough for use in hills. The image quality is satisfying. It has EVF, good controls and nicely rotating screen (hated the tilt-only one).
Other features I liked were Wi-Fi for remote control/image transferring (albeit horrible interface), auto HDR merge and decent battery life.

However, in a year I got it fixed twice: the on/off switch broke once and the rear dial (for aperture/shutter/EV/etc.) came off. In both times I got it repaired by warranty, but the rear dial fix lasted 3 months before it broke again (yesterday). Had a call with Amazon and they are happy if I return the camera back and get a refund on it.

So obviously, I want to stay away from Olympus to start with. Any suggestions for a camera with similar specs at a similar price point? I should be okay with fixed lens (considering RX100 V...).

Interesting, as I've been considering that exact combo of body and lens! I was dithering as not sure if the IQ would disappoint relative to my D300 .. in which case an upgrade to D7200 may be the way I go.

You could look at the Panasonic equivalents: they do a 12-35mm f2.8 that seems well regarded and is a little lighter iirc. Not sure about weather sealing though.

I might be interested in your 12-40 if you can't give that back.

I've got one available so sent you a PM in case you don't get PPP's one.

So are you thinking of staying with micro four thirds are looking more widely?

I own the basic rx100 and it is fab. The newer version with an EVF also has appeal. But no weather sealing and a fairly limted zoo range (although not much worse than you currently have). IQ for me is good enough. Large high iso prints are out but other than that you would need specialist requirements for the it to be an issue

If you are willing to carry more then the Fuji range are gorgeous and also offer some sealed leases and bodies

But most obliviously look at the Panasonic GX85 which the nearest equivalent

I think I'll be able to return both. I'll let you know otherwise.

The lens is phenomenal. The build quality is great, feels solid and the pictures are great.

I was thinking of X-T2/X-T20 with 18-55mm or 16-55mm. Thinking of just X-T20 with 18-55mm. The lack of weather sealing is going to be a bit of a step backwards, but bigger sensor with possibly better build quality sounds appealing.

I should pack the camera away when it's raining rather than use the Peak Design Capture Pro, so I guess weather sealing is not the critical thing.
