We, we’re half way through the year, so what’s been your best image so far this year?

I got a good shot of the Red Arrows yesterday.

I had a peruse of your photo stream. Many cracking pics. Bright, sharp, interesting. Good bokeh as well. The Red Arrows, looks like you were right there in the action.

That is a cracking shot, and I also have the same phone.

Pixel phones are exceptionally under rated for their cameras.

They go toe-to-toe with apple any day of the week for images.

That's kind of you to say of my images.

Yesterday I took just shy of 7,000 images which I'm slowly ploughing through. If I can get ten good images then I will be happy.

Hopefully the Spitfire + Typhoon combo will turn out well.

Best? Don't know - it's not art but I was pleased to get it when I could.

That is an astounding image. I was too tired to get up to see this event.

Its perfectly created.

Very good shot Lemming. Amazing timing with the shutter with a closing speed between the aircraft of what? Perhaps 800 MPH?

OP The Lemming 11 Jul 2022
In reply to The Lemming:

This is an also run average image from yesterday but I thought some aircraft types might like it.

Can you guess the two aircraft?

Ah nice, they flew over me bouldering yesterday in the Lancs quarries!

I tried so hard during the show to blur the props while still getting sharp images but I wasn't good enough.

Nice shot. It deserves a caption competition. My suggestion – Maxxis tires rule.

Ah, you're thinking of the pre-dawn one about a month ago? This was earlier (10/12/2021 - OK, I was stretching "this year" a bit) and in the early evening (~17:22) so no excuses!

For something airborne and closer to home (and definitely this year)...

Bonus points for breed and gender.

Excellent shots of yours. You are presumably finding your new camera good and an improvement in the old one?
Did you see the amateur photographer who’s main interest is aviation photography on national tv (last week iirc)?

She has a lot of Red Arrows shots and has some excellent props blur in other photos. Her gallery is well worth browsing (be warned there are a lot of photos though!). https://www.clairehartleyphotography.com/Galleries/Aviation-Galleries .

I have to say that my new camera is considerably better than my older Panasonic GH5. The focusing, photo wise is on a different level with fast moving subjects. The majority of my shots were in focus while with my GH5, I'd have been lucky with 20-30 images roughly in focus.

And, all my shots were hand held with a 400mm lens. No tripod, no monopod.

As for the female photographer, her work is fantastic and several levels above mine. The editing is fantastic.

Probably this for me, luck in some ways, didn't know there we're going to be planes about so just had a manual 200mm lens and steady hands!

Cracking shots in this thread.

I haven't taken many pictures for a while but I snapped the old ruin on the Watkin Path a few days ago - the one that Commandos blew to smithereens when training on Snowdon in the '40s. Came out quite well.
