Suddenly my morning tomorrow became free and I want to pop out for a sunrise somewhere within say 30-40min drive from Glasgow. Any ideas for landscape photography location?  Either nice vistas, or seascapes (will struggle within 30min) or maybe rivers with water features (cascades, waterfalls).

The Ochils are always good value. 

A bit late to the party, but Beinn Dubh from Luss might fit a bill. A bit of a climb, but views are pretty good looking East. 

How did you get on? I was going to suggest the Tak Ma Doon Road above Kilsyth, or The Crow Road above Lennoxtown.

Depends a bit on where you live, and how fast you drive. I know someone who’s done Edinburgh in around 20 minutes. Although that was with a police escort so doubt you’d be able to match that.

Being chased might give you the same speed... 😛
