After a few months of deliberating on a compact for day to day use (SLR has only been used twice in 3 years), I finally went for the LX15. Have I made the right choice? I ignored the advice of Chris Craggs to go for the TZ100 on the grounds of wider aperture. Keeping an old Pentax for water-based photos. Hopefully this will get me back into photography.

Probably going to sell my Canon 60D and 17-85 lens, keep macro and 170-500 for future dSLR.

I would say that it's a good camera.

Perhaps LX100 (Panasonic) or RX100 (Sony) might have been even better, but also a lot more spendy.

Besides, unlike the climbing proverb of having fun... the best camera is without a doubt the one you have with you.

I considered it when I bought my A5100. I ended up being swayed by the massive improvement in sensor size.

That doesn’t really answer your question though.....

A friend uses one for climbing and other stuff. Results look superb.
