I'd appreciate recommendations for an intervalomiter for a camera, especially a Panasonic GH5 please?

I use to use a TriggerTrap cable and app. Sadly the company went bust and the app is no longer available in the Google.Play store, which is a shame as it was an excellent bit of kit. I still have the cable though.

Does the GH5 not have an intervalometer in it already?

In reply to Alpenglow:

Yes it does.

I just got a cheapo Neweer one off amazon which seems to do the trick.

May I ask if the cheapo Neweer intervalomiter is responsible for the shutter speed?

or is that still controlled by the camera?

My TriggerTrap cable and app used to be in charge of the shutter speed, provided my camera was set in "Bulb" mode.

You can still get the trigger trap app.

Search for the APK and sideload it.

I shall give that a try. Hope it works with Android 10.

It is a little more involved, but when trigger tap went bust they released all hardware and software on github

https://github.com/Triggertrap

It would involve learning how to compile an android app though

You can have either, on my A7, setting the SS on the body makes the camera ignore whatever the intervalometer thinks should be happening, but in bulb mode the intervalometer has full control over exposure time, but this means the built in light meter on the camera doesn't work. Not a perfect solution by any means, but fine for some sub-30sec stacked exposures like the star trails.
