Back in the 1980's somebody (Tony Riley?) took a series of stunning B&W photos of various Peak District crags. Some of these were displayed in local gear shops. ISTR seeing one in the windows of Tanky's shop at the end of the Moor in Sheffield. I think they used a 5x4 plate camera. Does anyone know what happened to these photos?

In reply to wilkesley:

Wasn't that the series of crag photos used for Paul Nunn's Peak district guide ? (although that was in the 70s).

In reply to Doug:

That's entirely possible. I haven't got a copy of that guide to check. My earliest Peak guides go back to 1980, with the exception of a Kinder guide, on papyrus

While waiting for tea to cook I had a search on Google. Couldn't find any photos but

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Rock-Climbing-Peak-District-Paul/dp/0094582505

has a "A Riley" as photographer for Paul Nunn's Peak guidebook. Could be Anthony/Tony Riley

I’ve just dug out my copy of the Peak District guide.

Paul Nunn does indeed give specific acknowledgement to Tony Riley for the photographs.

Thanks. I am having a discussion with somebody who is going to get a roll film SLR:

It would be great if we could see the original photos.

If you google Tony Riley photographer there’s quite a few mentions of him.

Some of the older members of this forum probably know him.

Apologies if you know all this already.
