That's perfectly fair, however as discussed previously when Wordle fever was at its height if you use easy mode in that way a two is impossible. I've had 17 twos.
No I've never played Cluedo, a sheltered life!

Hard mode here. I fluked another three. Could have been a couple of others, at least. Excepting a pause in October, I've been on a run. Average just dipped under 3.8. I'll still post when it goes into fives and sixes again, like the whole of my awful July, honest.

my starter was also a previous solution so that's 3 wasted guesses..
no repeats as the solution list was predetermined (embedded in web page) until recently so a good memory (or playing every day) helps..

If you can remember yesterday's Wordle (538) of Friday 9 Dec you'll know why I'm posting. Started with my usual SNAIL then put in the obvious word for me to get it in 2 and probably my fastest ever solution. Who else has had a similar personal experience - and, no, I don't mean getting it in 2.

Use square brackets instead of angles, and put a forward slash before the second worrd "spoiler"
i.e. <spoiler>test</spoiler> but with square brackets.

This is my 100th game (since I started again), I always use the same starting word (2 vowels) and usually the same second word - like today (another 2 vowels). If I'm getting nowhere I'll use my usual Quordle third word (15 letters, all 5 vowels and Y). I don't play in hard mode although sometimes I effectively play that way when my first word is close.
Distribution:
- 2: 4
- 3: 25
- 4: 50
- 5: 17
- 6: 3
- F: 1
Average is 3.93 (counting the 1 fail as a 7).
Max streak is given as 31 but it's actually unknown because Wordle (unlike Quordle) resets if you miss a day.

I hope so. Explain what you mean. I love the challenge of it, but always use two words first that incorporate all the vowels and some of the most common consonants. I quite like the hard mode, but prefer the immediacy of the soft mode.

After two moves you appear to have one green and one yellow; not "all five letters right" hence my comment.
I'm also intrigued as to how many twos you've had given your predilection for "easy" mode.
I now understand how you had all five letters, however my second question remains.

OK, I'll tell you exactly how it went. My two standard first two words are TRAIN and LOUSE. After i'd entered those I was told that the orange letters R A N and U were correct, and that L was not only correct but in the right position. So I was then left with an anagram of LRANU, starting with L.

I've never got it in two. With my system, that would mean that the answer would have to have been a five letter word from TRAINLOUSE. It you mean in three moves, I've no idea how many such successes I've had, but it must be at least a dozen. I have been doing this rather a long time - most days for about a year.

Maybe we should start two UKC threads: 'Wordle easy' and 'Wordle hard'? (*non-Wordle UKC no doubt groans) There do seem to be different motivations for choosing which mode you want to play the game in.
(I'll be in the 'hard' one, though I do appreciate the different challenge posed by 'easy' mode)

Occurred to me too although possibly a bit divisive. I've had 19 twos out of 310 games, always a pleasant surprise.

Puzzled by your post, probably being dim. An unrecognised word doesn't cost a go anyway and presumably the correct word was in the solution list!

There is or least there has been a list of 2000 or so words that can be a solution, then another mutually exclusive list of 10000 or so words that are valid guesses, but not possible solutions.

I made a mistake in Try 4 and used a letter that I'd already had rejected. My guess in Try 5 was an even more dubious word in its everyday meaning than the correct answer (I've subsequently discovered it also has an esoteric mycological meaning that you'd appreciate), but it was accepted.
Sleeping bag will be useful.

I do. Whether anyone thinks that is cheating is up to them. It is my five minutes of fun in the morning. That plus sharing the highs and the lows on here.
This is what I do: I got the list of the 2000 or so words and I wrote a programme (in R) that scored them all according to my own hugely secret* and totally effective method** which I have actually forgotten (*that's why, **not). Each time I put in a word it tells me how many words are left from the list that have not yet been used in descending order of my score. I don't always choose the one at the top of the list as my next word but if so then I usually regret it.
I have kept a list of the solutions and my scores since I started 340 odd days ago and feed those into the programme.
This feels like more fun to me, not more like work, well, not like the no-fun bit of work.
