I think that was untrue, but it shouldn't have been.

That's right - exactly 5 litres.

Good to see the return of a true British Icon.

Can we have tenants beer beauties back too?

And all those crap seventies beer ads can be wheeled out again. Whitbread big head Trophy Bitter - the pint that thinks it's a quart!

Only problem is that you need to drink it all or throw what you haven't down the drain.

It's OK for parties, but not for singles or families staying at home and reducing the chance of interaction with potential Covid carriers.

They should have saved the introduction until AFTER we could all go out and mix.

(Mind you, I'll be going to the pub when we can, and supporting that industry, rather than the "drink at home" idea which won't help the pub trade and instead is more likely to lead to alcoholism).

More recent.  But I always liked,      Spitfire.    No Fokker comes close.

I think you may mean Tennent's “Lager Lovelies”, then again you may just be pining for the days when having downed ten cans there wasn't an unattractive bird anywhere to be seen.

In reply to David Riley:

The Focke Wulf 190 was pretty cool actually, pretty much an equal match across the board to Spitfires, as both evolved.

Brew XI, for the man of the Midlands.

Or

Beer at home means Davenports, that's the beer,  lots of cheer

In reply to David Riley:

No Fokkers flew against Spitfires though, but against the Luftwaffe, they were Dutch aircraft.

Ta for the heads up on the difference, though, I lost my anorak during my teens.

I’ve had a few of the Adnams Ghost Ship big can things, 9 pints? Really nice, citrusy and perfectly poured pints in the house. Hope Marsdons Pedigree or Timmy Taylor Landlord ones come out

Nah. It's just that the pint has been standardised to 500ml...

In reply to Wingnut:

Watney's Red Barrel was one of the driving forces for CAMRA...

Theres a good reason it died. There's no good reason to bring it back. Unless it's to appeal to Brexiteer restrospectacles... A bit like beer goggles...

They look a lot like the mini casks my local brewer does - https://chapterbrewing.co.uk/product-category/minicask/

He warned me to let it settle for a good 24h, it kept looking at me from the kitchen worktop and I weakened too soon. Mea culpa.

In reply to steveriley:

> They look a lot like the mini casks my local brewer does

Yeah. Mini cask/keg is a popular format.

Well I'm 65 now - but when I was young ........

In reply to EddInaBox:

Yes, Lager lovelies. It was remiss of me to forget that, my father was involved in developing the printing process which put the bird on the booze.

I hope the Watneys comes complete with the can punch for the triangular hole too. A great multi use piece of kit, plumb Bob for decorating, great tool to manufacture camping stoves from the empty can too.

 wilkie14c 14 Jan 2021
In reply to mick taylor:

Air vent on top that you crack and then a pouring tube that telescopes out of the side at the bottom of the can that just works as a tap, turn it closed/open. Slow to pour a couple of pints but really good quality
