Has anyone tried reverse walking? Apparenttly it can be quite beneficial(until you collide with something) because you're using muscles you don't use in normal walking. I'm toying with the idea of utilising it for charity fund raising.

2 of my mates one who is sadly no longer with us. Walked from Leeds to Ingleton backwards to break the world record, got themselves on Blue Peter as well.

Anyone any thoughts on obstacle avoidance?

Spike Milligan did in his song:

"I'm walking backwards to Christmas

Across the Irish Sea....." etc

Can be quite beneficial? If God had intended us to walk backwards then ... um ... we'd be the other way round.

If you combine it with squat-jogging you'd create the emperor of leg workouts

I can speak with some authority on this, I'm on lunch- break after 3 hours walking backwards pulling the bar on a rod bender. After 15 years of doing this I can't see it's done anything except give me back ache.

If you are one of the people who live by your phone, you could have it set for selfie and look past your magnificent visage and over your shoulder! Should be fine!

Enjoy. Crazy stuff is always great! (Try swimming the channel distance in a 25 yard pool. You don't get tired you get dizzy!)

Try walking "toes contact first" going forwards for another way to use different muscles when walking.

Difficult?  Un-natural and weird?

Now climb some stairs.  Look at your feat - toes first!

Is that the walking or the pulling that's give you the backache though?

When I was recovering from my hip replacement the physio gave me exercises with a theraband around my ankles, to build abductors/adductors (still can't tell which is which...) plus walking backwards. Which I found I was rubbish at. Since then, and before the gyms all closed, I would add 400 metres or so of walking backwards on the treadmill at the end of my workout. Probably looked stupid, and not seen anyone else doing it, but I certainly got better at it - and no need to keep looking behind...

I do plenty of pulling without the walking!  It's probably that instead of being braced on my legs and using my bodyweight I'm having to tension my back to pull and move my legs under load.

That would be some feet.

On my bike to work I sometimes see a chap walking backwards.  As he looked about 120 and was quite spritely, so I guess it's good for you.  Or he could have been in his 30's and then you'd conclude it was terrible.

Some interesting and amusing/hilarious replies. I might start off at the dead of night so no one sees me😂

Thanks

Spy glasses! The ones with little mirrors in the corners so you can see who's following you.
