Video editor for dummies

Any recommendations for a really simple video editor? Just want to trim video files and rotate them, nothing more!

A good paid-for option is filmora. £60 for a lifetime licence including updates. I've used it for simple editing. https://filmora.wondershare.com

Both of the above support Windows and Mac.

I don't have much experience but recently needed to do some basic editing and was recommended avidemux. It does basic editing and has a reasonably simple help/tutorial on the site.

Is my go to choice. If I had money or needed 1080 or 4k I'd consider paying for it..

Thats why I bought a Filmora licence: £60 for a lifetime licence vs £100+vat for a year's lightworks. Filmora would probably seem probably rather dumbed-down to anyone used to pro video editing, but for infrequent users with fairly basic needs (like me) it gets the job done.

If you have a Mac, the Quicktime player already has built in functionality to rotate and trim videos.

For Windows 10, the Photos app has the ability to trim videos, but not rotate them. VLC (free video player at www.videolan.org) does seem to allow rotating videos - just google 'VLC rotate video'
