Good morning ,

Reasons to be cheerful today.

1) It's December and I've not heard "fairytale of new york" yet

2) I finished a book this morning and now got a new one to read.

3) Had a great gym session this morning before work.

4) I'm now batch cooking food and I'm 12 days ahead - Wooo hoo. So organised.

I could come up with more but I'll save them .

Over to you UKC

I am really poorly (stupid visur thingy) - and I am taking a day's sick leave. The ability to do so is actually a big blessing.

And there's a blue sky, and frost, and autumn sunshine outside.

I’m cheerful because.

1. It’s not raining.

2. I haven’t had to scrape ice off the car windscreen.

3. It’s still not raining.

4. My wife is taking me out for coffee this morning before I head to work.

There are loads of other reasons why I’m cheerful but it would take up too much space.

Have a great day Wild Scallion. Be as happy as you can be.

It's frosty and not raining.

For the first time in months I was not ploughing through mud when I took the dog for a walk.

While taking the dog for a walk, I saw a very long stream of what I took to be satellites moving across the sky.  Evenly spaced, about 8 visible at a time, presumably all oriented the same and coming into an out of view as the sun caught them.  I counted about 15, before I decided I ought to keep walking.  Very odd, very pretty

No-one tried to kill me on my morning commute.

My legs feel OK after a very long and hilly bike ride yesterday

The satellites will be the new Internet ones.

They'll soon be hundreds of thousands of of them ruining the night sky...

Now you mention Xmas music, I have yet to hear the dulcet tones of Noddy Holder or Roy Wood this year.

I feel blessed.

There does seem to be a strange lack of it this year.

I'm not complaining .   Although its sort of difficult to get my head around that it's Christmas soon

1)I've been given a pass to attend a friend's birthday curry next weekend (my drinking time is fairly curtailed these days, and I'm already 'out out' this weekend)

2) There's currently snow on the mountains I want to go snowshoeing on in my xmas hols

3) It's sunny - last month is looking like one of the rainiest ever Octobers.

1 – A few weeks ago the cardiologist said that since the aneurism that had developed on one of the stents has now mostly gone I don’t need any more angiograms. The last one went spectacularly wrong. Never liked them and was dreading another one.

2 – My first winter of retirement. No more early morning walks with the dogs in the dark and the cold before work.

3 – It’s Monday, so it’s my turn to pick up my grandson from school and feed and entertain him until it’s time to take him home.

In London yesterday, in a tunnel exiting one of the Tube stations, I heard a busker (with amplifier and his guitar soaked in reverb) just finishing it off (in both senses of the term). Then after a 20 second pause, he started playing it again! I didn't stick around to see if that was the only song he was going to play all day.

Later on, heard some carols being performed by an organised group on a tiny stage at a small street market.

This morning I put Radio 2 on and heard the end of the Shakin' Stevens Christmas song.

I've just realised that's three things. These are not my 1-2-3 reasons to be cheerful!

4. Just read Steven Pinkers book 'Enlightenment Now' -an optimistic tome and we definitely need some optimism.

I prefer redheads but not sure I could have one every time I go to the pub (but then I don't go to the pub that often so my libido could probably just about cope).

I'm pleased to say I'm better than ever.  Thankful for all I have and now reconciling what I perceived was all of my negatives into gifts .
