More likely this. More commonly called Alkanet in the UK, often mistaken for Borage.

Are the leaves and stem slightly stiff and hairy?

Borage/green alkanet/evergreen bugloss

Green Alkanet, Pentaglottis sempervirens (In the Borage Family)

Yes.

It is a prolific spreader too. We have it in the garden and it pops up everywhere. It also has tiny irritating spines.

In reply to Sean Kelly:

The little bright blue flowers are only about 1cm across, and the leaves quite big & pointed in comparison if that helps.

Yes thanks for all the advice. Green Alkane, related to Forget me not and part of the Borage family  and a prolific weed. Fortunately not in my garden but the local lane. Still  it's a pretty little plant and brightens up my day.

Pentaglottis sempervirens which seems to have several English names including evergreen bugloss & evergreen alkanet.

Although a botanist by training, I've started using https://identify.plantnet.org for plants I don't recognise & which seems pretty good

On iphone there is an app called plant net. Take a picture, press go. For your pic it it comes back with green Alkanet, plus some alternatives to investigate: great Forget me not & Beebread.

I tried one of these but it generated massive amounts of spam. I suppose the idea is that you get fed up with this and pay the subscription they want.

Almost definitely Green Alkanet. Some regard it as a weed, but I reckon it's attractive enough to cultivate as long as it isn't allowed to spread too much. Great for pollinators.
