Going to be in Penrith for a couple of days next week....interested in any local knowledge on pubs?

Good beer....outdoor area would be good...in town or a reasonable walk out of town...

Cheers

The Board and Elbow near the centre of town is good, with decent beer, but gets very busy. The Agricultural Hotel, near the railway station, is also decent. Out of town, the Beehive Inn, at Eamont Bridge, is under new management and is supposed to be good. It's about 15 mins from the centre of Penrith. I used to really like the Cross Keys, Carleton, again about 15 mins from the centre, but that's also under new management. Probably worth a loook though.

The Agricultural, or 'the aggie' is a proper traditional pub with a range of real ales - it was always our favourite after a CMC session at the wall. It has outdoor seating now, but is not the most relaxing of spaces due to the traffic.
