Anybody else see the parrot at Stanage plantation yesterday. Flew around the woods the upto the edge and I assume back to its owner.

most impressive. On a par with seeing the wallabies at the back of Roaches many years ago

Are you sure it was a parrot and not a ring necked parakeet which are becoming more and more widespread in the UK - common in London and they're well established in Manchester, don't know about E side of Peak district.

Obviously if it wasn't green then it wasn't one of those 😁

I wondered that. There’s a few of them live in the Porter valley on the west side of Sheffield, so very possibly one could make its way over to Stanage.

Since the whole point of living on the west side of Sheffield is easy access to Stanage 😁🧗‍♀️🚶‍♂️🏃‍♀️, that sounds quite likely.

Sodding foreign birds coming over here with their colourful feathers taking up Instagram space.

Have they not heard of Brexit?

Don't worry, when Liz takes over she will take back control of our everything. She sh1ts unicorns for a living.

Could Stannage be confused for Norwegian Feords?

There’s absolutely loads of these in my local (East London) park, used to be just West London but they’re spreading pretty rapidly.

Being green they’re pretty hard to spot when they’re up in the trees but you always know they’re there due to the noise - they’re noisy as hell, do a lot of skawking at each other!

Not flying, but perched on her shoulder as she walked back to the popular end around 2/230

My kids didn't believe me until I showed them the photos

Good, a much more exciting spot than seeing one of those green parakeets.

One of my climbing buddies and his partner organise parrot free flying around the Peak, so we quite often have a flock of macaws meet us at the edges probably one of their group!

Possibly this guy, very curious around climbers. Here giving me disapproving looks as I make a meal of The File.

In reply to neilh:

There is a guy locally who takes his parrot out into the Peak to exercise it. We've seen him at Curbar before.
