Before I was struck down with killer hayfever, took a few phone photos of the last of the orchids: northern marsh and spotted (the pinker one).  And a bee orchid from few weeks back.

Very pretty.

I was reminded the other day that orchids grow well here in the Chilterns, but despite a nunber of years running and walking many footpaths I've only seen them once or twice.

The early flowering orchids have mostly finished in the woods here (southern French Alps), but  both white & Narrow-leaved helleborines are only just coming into flower & I'm waiting for what I think are dark-red helleborines to flower. Oddly, coralroot orchids with fruits are now more visible than when they were in flower.

And the orchids in the alpine grasslands have only just started flowering, there were some lovely Nigritelle de Cornelia (not sure it has an English name) at the weekend growing at circa 2500m.
