I'm in the Ogwen Valley next week for a few days hiking, and at my age I need rest days, - and on such days I like to do a bit of birding with the camera.

Any recommended areas in the Ogwen area?

In reply to Fredt:

The little patch of woodland at Glan Dena has a mix of common species and they sometimes have feeders out giving photo opportunities.

Woodland at the bottom end of the Nant Ffrancon, between where the back road meets the A5 and Ogwen falls, has green woodpeckers, Redstarts and pied flycatchers.

Many of the upper cwms have Ring Ouzel territories.

The valley floor around Blaen y Nant is the Welsh stronghold for Twite.

There's usually a Raven around Twll Ddu / Y Garn that will come within a couple of metres for peanuts, and sometimes Chough around the summits.

Otherwise it's pretty much Mippits, Wheatear and Wrens.

if you find some forested rivers you're likely to see pied/grey wagtails, dippers, kingfishers (if youre lucky), there's also the ospreys down on the glaslyn
