Is there an expert out there?

I recently dropped my phone, despite its shock proof cover,it managed to land flat on its screen, disabling the display.

Any ideas how I can get the data from the broken phone to my new one. The phone still works, will switch on and off, alarm still goes off in the morning.

I have tried usb cable but no joy. I have been quoted £120 for a new screen but this seems a bit steep.

Anyone got a teenage expert to hand?

Thanks

In reply to Presley Whippet:

Last time I replaced my android phone (bought a cheap Moto g8) it automatically transferred everything over to my new phone.

My memory may be a little fizzy as it was about 2 years ago but I don't think I had to install anything.

I think by logging into Gmail it magically knew it was my phone.

But I can't remember if I had to accept on my old phone or not which may be a problem for you.

My kids are too young to help further I'm afraid.

In reply to montyjohn:

My experience was broadly the same. Most data, contacts, pictures etc were backed up on my g mail account, and there for me when I logged in on new phone.

If you have a Gmail account and havent opted out of any features of their standard set up.
