Well....I'm 55 and I've been single and happily so for many years....brought my kids up as a single dad and they've now flown the nest!
I did have a relationship a while back and am divorced from about 18'years ago but I have never 'dated'!
Ive been out for a date....we we.t for a walk, sat and chatted....all really nice, easy and felt very familiar and ok! I do know her a little from work so not a totally new person!
I don't even know why I'm posting to say it....I'm home now, sat out having a beer! It was all a bit surreal...she is very nice, I do fancy her but something kind of made me a little tense at times...maybe I'm just not used to it! I guess I'll just see what happens...its just a bit unknown at this age I suppose!
Good effort on getting back out there.
Too many good folk hide their light under a bushel.
Did you ask her what she has done on the Grit?
No....but at one point I was trying to describe climbing grades and the differences in UK and alpine systems....then quickly thought to myself I bet this is proper boring to someone who knows nothing about climbing!!!!
Good for you. Good luck with it.
Good effort and I hope things develop in the direction that is right for you!
I've often thought that if something were to change in my life (happily married for 20 years so hopefully it won't) the thought of going through the whole getting to know someone again would be too terrifying to even contemplate 😁.
Fab, cheers!
This is a complete urban myth. To the uninitiated your are like a Sly Stallone and Simon Reeve hybrid. Educated, feral & muscle bound and not afraid to put a bolt in something using a jet propelled gun whilst dangling one armed from a beastmaker 45 on a moderately humid day. The master race.
You avoided the cliche of letting her know you have led E1 indoors?

It was a bit odd!! I did have moments thinking can I be arsed!! Bit of a funny one though as pretty much my job is getting to know and listen to people so I was having a bit of a word with myself at times!
> ...then quickly thought to myself I bet this is proper boring to someone who knows nothing about climbing!!!!
That's correct, back away from that conversation.
No but she did ask how good I was at it!! Ive only ever been to a climbing indoor wall once and didn't rate it though!!
Send her a message saying how much you enjoyed her company? Great post, I hope it goes well. She fancies you as well
Clearly, the kids and any partners may want to know all the details...

Tell me about it. Ive been married 19 years in Feb. If owt were to happen I think I'd be terrified of getting out there.
Well done ABR. The discovery of a new intimacy is one of humankind's most exciting experiences.
> No....but at one point I was trying to describe climbing grades and the differences in UK and alpine systems....then quickly thought to myself I bet this is proper boring to someone who knows nothing about climbing!!!!
If she still wants to see you again after that, then you're in! I mean shit, I climb and if someone started talking alpine to me my mind would start to wonder haha
> No....but at one point I was trying to describe climbing grades and the differences in UK and alpine systems....then quickly thought to myself I bet this is proper boring to someone who knows nothing about climbing!!!!
Wise man!!
Agreed! Definitely dodged a bullet there.
I can't think of anything much less romantic than talking about climbing grades. It's even a pretty boring subject amongst avid climbers!
> I can't think of anything much less romantic than talking about climbing grades. It's even a pretty boring subject amongst avid climbers!
True but that's what my future wife talked about when she was chatting me up.
She probably sussed out that that and another subject was all I was really interested in.
She stopped climbing as soon as we got engaged.
Married almost forty years now
Let's us know if you get yer whistle wet. Until then this is all just conjecture.
Have you thought about getting some viagra in case you get 'stage fright?'
> Let's us know if you get yer whistle wet. Until then this is all just conjecture.
That did make me smile. Although my wife does call me "The Adolescent". 😁
I hope you at least touched on trad and fixed gear ethics? She'd think you a punter otherwise.
> That did make me smile. Although my wife does call me "The Adolescent". 😁
+1 !!!
Its a very Hardonicus post....always to the point!
Thanks everyone....really appreciate all the comments. I'll keep my mind on getting my whistle wet if it comes to it a.d will beware of Baron Weasel 'stage fright'!! 😁
18 years last Saturday for us, if anything happened I probably wouldn't bother. Getting a pro in once a month would be far easier and probably cheaper on balance too.
Good for you, I hope that it works out wonderfully.
Who doesn't love a good conversation about grading though... At least deep down...

I've thought the same in the past. Much less hassle 😁
Yeah but once a month???
Happy days for abr1966.
> Yeah but once a month???
Anyone seen Dax H?..
Yeah he's over there, he's the one that looks like a fiddler crab!

That and after 18 years married once a month would vastly increase my annual score.
That's not good, have you thought about going to see a Relationship Councillor? Relate are very good, we had a session about 5 years ago and it was the best 50 quid I think I've ever spent. Married 10 years and together 13 and we usually have intimacy one night a week and do it a few times, although it was far less than this until about 2 years ago.
To quote Zapp Brannigan:
"The spirit is willing, but the flesh is spongy and bruised"
I'm fine pal, to be fair we probably do only get at it once a month but between our various medical issues and my insane work schedule it's not easy.
It's hard to feel sexy when just about every joint in your body hurts 24/7 and it's even worse after 12 hours on site.
On the plus side I have a new service engineer starting in a month so that will take some pressure ff a bit.
I'm well impressed at your do it a few times comment. I remember those days in my early 30's 4 or 5 times a night was easy, in my late 40's I run out of steam if once takes too long 😢
> . I remember those days in my early 30's 4 or 5 times a night was easy, in my late 40's I run out of steam if once takes too long 😢
4 or 5!!!! Good going....mustering up twice was always my limit and that took some doing!! 👍
Many years ago when my first marriage was having serious problems, we went to a relationship counsellor. On the way home my wife was seriously miffed. She claimed that the counsellor fancied me, so took my side. Which I guess tells you quite a lot about the relationship issues.
Or that you are top drawer Nick!! 😉
Not really....a couple of texts yesterday agreeing to meet again but nothing muc more! Not sure how to play it....don't want to come across as needy but also don't want to be too stand off!! Its like being 16 in the body of a 55 year old.....I wish I was 55 but in the body of a 16 year old....if only!!!!
You're right, play it cool and take things slow - no dick pic until tomorrow afternoon earliest.
> .....I wish I was 55 but in the body of a 16 year old....
Legal, but not advisable.
> I'm well impressed at your do it a few times comment. I remember those days in my early 30's 4 or 5 times a night was easy, in my late 40's I run out of steam if once takes too long 😢
Now that's a humble brag personified.
Did she put out?

This is a better news story than anything The Daily Mail or The Sun have put out in years!!!
My one piece of advice; always compliment her outfit! The refuse-collector commented my wife's outfit one day before I did and I doubt I'll ever hear the end of it.....
Maybe something to report later! She was going away for the weekend and due back today....will see how it goes! After a bit of a high last week from it I find myself quite ambivalent now....then again I do have a bit of a tendency to overthinking!!!
> On the plus side I have a new service engineer starting in a month so that will take some pressure off a bit.
But does she fancy the the new "service engineer?"
Well he is half my age and well built so probably
