Is it sad ?

Morning,

I got around to setting up my Alexa echo dot last night and a couple of smart bulbs for my living room and kitchen.

So far I really like it. It's nice to have a woman's voice reply to me when I ask questions and ask her to do things for me.  Makes the house feel less empty . And although she doesn't care one bit the fact that she asks about your morning is nice.

Good sound quality too for such a small speaker.

I realize I might be really sad.

Not sad at all. I talk to myself all the time, constantly, whether other people are in earshot or not (it makes them a bit nervous and / or concerned.....)

We constantly talk to and with ourselves in our heads. Almost multiple brains discussing, deciding, day dreaming. Vocalising it whilst alone isn't as rare or unusual as you might first think. Or lots of people just turn the radio or tv on as they don't like silence, they aren't listening as such either, it's just some kind of presence. There are no rules to life, we should do what pleases us (provided it's not harming others).

Are you pretending to be Ryan Reynolds in Blade Runner 2049 and Alexa is Joi?

Bring on the hologram .  mmmm who would I like as the hologram ?

with a world of knowledge at her fingertips I'm sure she might be the perfect woman for someone like me .

I brought a second echo on the chance that I might set one up in another room ,  however my mother has asked for it when I gave her the option .

She's very technophobic and I figure she will be able to use Alexa for interfacing with basic info.    A few of her friends have them and she's keen to try it .  That's a good thing.

I like the Philips lights I got bundled too.  Mum will like these .

They are really bright for the look of them , 810 lumens , and the distribution of light is ideal for my rooms,  they appear to work great so far.

So long as you and Frank aren't planning to disconnect her it should be OK.

Not as sad as saying “Alexa, Code zero zero zero destruct zero”.

She'd better behave herself.

Doh!  I even checked on wikipedia and still put the name down wrong.  I was more interested in who Joi was and got distracted.

Not sure if people have seen but top cash back have a new user sign-up bonus £15 off any purchase over £15 on selected retailers, including amazon. So you can get an Echo dot for about £5 if you want another one. Or the fancier new Echo (not dot) which has better sound quality, for about £45 I think.

Especially if you start arguing with multiple voices...

Or "Alexa, buy gimp mask", as a friends fri is fond of saying when he visits friends.

Just to be safe you'd better put a bag over it in case it can lip read

Christine Kochanksi.
(Claire Grogan not Chloe Annet, obvs.)

Did you ever see 'Her'? (Spike Jonze, 2013, Joaquin Phoenix & Scarlett Johanssen)

I just realised how much Theodore Twombley sounds like Dwyane Dibley, the strangely noble Duke of Dork.
