Is this an offence now?

 GrahamD 10 Aug 2020
In reply to MG:

Its tantamount to international travel which is very risky right now.

Settle down.

In reply to MG:

It's an offence towards all that is correct in the world.

Come back north asap

Possibly only if you are black!

Or have tinted windows.

I hadn't realised until reading about this episode that the law regarding tinted windows only applies to front windows and the front windscreen.

It's an offence anywhere.

Have new restrictions appeared?

In reply to Timmd:

Seems so.

Only if you're black and driving a nice car.

The account given by Dawn Butler is interesting, in that she is happy to acknowledge that one policeman was polite and apologetic when an error was realised, whereas two other officers attending were, in Butler's words, 'very obnoxious'.

Took me half a minute to get that

But you're right, my joke was past its Selby date. It's a Hessle

Surely the police need probable Hawes to take action.

In reply to MG:

Ha, this threads a good Giggleswick.

That reflects well on her, that she's not slanted against all the people who stopped her, it's possibly helpful for relations between the police and minorities.

In reply to MG:

There is lots of video footage of police harrassing Black people in the States, demanding ID and asking them to explain what they're doing, where they've been and where they are going. Sometimes they are in their own front yard. If they refuse to do as they are told they finish up in handcuffs, face down on the ground etc... You would have thought our police would be a bit more aware of what's going on in the world right now.

I expect the police to be no nonsense and worthy of respect, but we'll never be the land of the free while black people are treated like this.

Interesting as la Butler lied about the driver who was white, made a fuss to the officers who appear to have made an error and apologised and then tried to make a racial incident out of it. Truly shameful for an MP.

You sure about all of that?

 No, stay there

 Timmd 13 Aug 2020
In reply to Stone Idle:

Unless she's now lying about her friend who is black also being in the car, meaning that whether she somehow flipped the camera to make it seem she was driving or not, it would have still been a black person driving, it could seem to be that you've been taken in by conspiracy theories?

nb: I think I've been misled by things I've seen online in the past.
