In reply to Bob Kemp:

"And perhaps the biggest injection of cash in living memory is just around the corner. As one of the most-indebted EU nations, Italy is due to soon receive €209 billion from the EU’s Recovery Fund. In the past, the‘Ndrangheta has proved itself exemplary at cultivating friendships at the highest level of national and international government to siphon off such funds. And so it’s seen by many in Italy as almost inevitable that a large percentage of the Recovery Fund will be captured by organised crime."

Reducing corruption was a big part of voting out of the EU.  Take on the mafia over other people's money ?   Not so much.

Ever so slightly closer to home have you seen what our newly liberated, post Brexit government are doing? Syphoning billions in taxpayers cash to their mates.

Interestingly, Roberto Savaiano - who wrote 'Gomorrah' (the book, not the TV drama), exposing the reach of the Naples-based Camorra mafia - said he considered the UK to be the most corrupt country in Europe.

Also, one of the reasons Brexit was pushed by the rich, London has been a place where Russian money has been swilling around for years. The EU were introducing legislation regarding tax havens.

It was a hyperbolic statement referring to money laundering going through the city of London.

In this country you don't need to bribe people to conduct your normal and legitimate business, in Italy that is often the case.

On the other hand, in this country, you do get to do business in which you have no experience if you know the right people and give the right kind of donations.
